First look: Hotel Metropolitan Kamakura opens its doors

Despite uncertainties surrounding the COVID-19 situation, the JR-EAST HOTELS group has pressed on with the grand opening of HOTEL METROPOLITAN KAMAKURA and opened its doors on 24 April 2020. This is the second hotel that the hotel group owns in Kanagawa Prefecture.

In an official statement, the hotel announced several measures that will be implemented from the date of its opening. Besides all staff having to wear a mask, regular disinfection and cleaning will be carried out within its facilities and antiseptic sanitisers will be provided in various locations within the hotel.

The hotel is a 2-minute walk from the JR Kamakura Station (East exit) and sits along the iconic Wakamiya Oji Avenue.

HOTEL METROPOLITAN KAMAKURA houses a restaurant operated by MUJI on the first storey, as well as lifestyle retail concept MUJIcom, a compact-version of popular retailer MUJI. Both the restaurant and the retail shop are observing shortened operation timings due to the implementation of COVID-19 safe-distancing measures, and will welcome its first customers at 11am (JST) today.
